THE PHILOSOPHY

THE PHILOSOPHY

First written in December 2004, the eve of our grand opening...these words remain true today.
It has been said, and is now generally accepted within many martial arts circles that, with the advent of reality based "no holds barred" fighting competitions as offered by such promotions as the "UFC", "Pride", "King of the Cage", etc... marital arts have progressed more during the past ten years than during the prior two centuries.

These event have systematically thrashed and burned the archaic belief that any one fighting discipline, no matter how visually impressive and/or universally revered, represents the "ultimate" martial art.

In its place has arisen a new fighting art form which incorporates within its ever expanding boundaries the most effective elements of all existing styles and disciplines while, at the same time, actively discarding those principles and/or teachings which have proven to be ineffective in a realistic fight setting.

Gone is the antiquated notion that any one Sensei, Master or guru, no matter how seasoned and/or lauded, has at his or her disposal the definitive answers to the countless questions facing any student of the combative arts.

Rather, this new system of marital arts training adopts a collective mentality which stems from the dual acknowledgment that, just as all legitimate fighting styles have something to offer towards the creation of a truly complete fighting system, so to does every combatant, regardless of experience level, bring something to the table which can contribute to, and should be incorporated into the fighting conscience of the collective.

It is with this background and upon this belief system that Rat Pack Fighting Systems (RPFS) has been founded and it is this new hybrid style of mixed martial arts training which its members seek to explore, promote and support.

*Be advised, RPFS is not your traditional martial arts academy!

We do not perform forms or "katas".

We do not break boards or bricks.

We do not teach foreign languages.

We do not give history lessons.

Further, while we employ several skilled and knowledgeable instructors who trained and accredited within various fighting disciplines, in keeping with our collective mentality, we have no "students" only "members" who are asked to focus their energies and concentrate their efforts on only one common and universal goal; namely, to become the most complete fighter with he/she wishes to and/or is capable of becoming within the confines of his/her physical and mental abilities.
