Striking / Standup
newlogo1

In addition to our Kickboxing program, as part of the multidiscipline training offered here at RPFS, we afford our members the opportunity to hone their striking and standup fighting skills via our Sunday Striking/Standup (SSS) program which program is open to any active Rat Pack member free of charge.

In keeping with the RP Philosophy, SSS is designed to present our members with a spectrum of striking styles, skills and disciplines which is as vast and diverse as the backgrounds, talents and experiences of the instructors in charge of the training sessions.

SSS is open to every Rat Pack member regardless of previous experience and has something to offer to everyone from black belts to competitive fighters to complete novices.

Sessions take place every Sunday at 11:30 and overlap with our regular open mat schedule in an effort to insure that our members (particularly those who are interested in MMA competition) have an opportunity to cross train in both standing and ground disciplines on a regular and consistent basis.

ANDRE "DR. DRE" BERARD: Master Berard is a renowned and accomplished martial arts practitioner and competitor.  He currently holds the ranking of Sixth Dan in Tae Kwon Do.  He has worked out and shared knowledge with many Martial Art Schools in the last 30 years and "joined the pack" in 2006 in order to add ground fighting skills to his already vast repertoire.

His athleticism and striking skills (particularly his kicking ability) are well know and respected in many martial arts circles and we are very proud and pleased that he chooses to share his talents with our members.

KEVIN KRESGE: While he is the newest member of the Rat Pack staff, Kevin is far from a newcomer to the martial arts game. Rather, Master Kresge has trained in the art of Tae Kwon Do since 1982, currently holds the ranking of Sixth Dan under Grand Master R.C. Nenow and prior to coming to Rat Pack was the chief testing instructor at Nenow's Dynasty Karate for many, many years.

Master Kresge also has expertise in traditional Tang Soo Do and NeChang Katas, Korean and Japanese style sparring, is proficient in Okinawan style weapons and, in more recent years, has expanded his training to include the art of Kempo which he continues to train on a regular basis.

In addition to his involvement with the striking program here at Rat Pack, Master Kresge will be overseeing our newly added "Traditional Arts" program.

FORREST "THE WISE MAN" MEYER: Over the past 35 years Forrest has trained with several instructors and in various disciplines including Ishin Ryu, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and American Boxing. Never-the-less, Forrest sees himself not as a "martial artist" but, rather as, simply, a fighter.

Further, as Life Skills and Vocational Education teacher for the past 18 years, Forrest knows well that people learn best when they are in a comfortable environment and surrounded by friends.

It is for these reasons that RPFS, with its "no-ego" policy, its multi-discipline approach to fight training and it family like environment was tailor made for Forrest and his unique training programs.
