The children's program at RPFS is open to children from ages 5 through 13 and is designed to expose participants to the world of "mixed martial arts" with an emphasis on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, submission grappling and general striking techniques (both standing and on the ground) gleaned from various other arts and disciplines.

Each one hour class incorporates warm-ups and calisthenics, flexibility and conditioning training, technique training and various physical fitness games (the children's favorite!) which incorporate the skills learned in class.

Each child has the opportunity to monitor his/her own progress and advance through the RPFS exclusive "Patch" system where all participants regardless of age and/or experience will earn both Certificates (suitable for framing) and colored patches for their Gi's or Rat Pack shirts marking their Rank and accomplishments within the Rat Pack System.

In the past four years the Children's Team at Rat Pack has garnered numerous awards including approximately 30 North American Grappling Association (N.A.G.A.) medals, including several Golds, a PaBJJ Federation Gold Medal and three First Place Sparring awards at the 2006 Nenow's Dynasty Karate Tournament.

Our children's program is headed by Nicholas Masington, Esq., who began formal martial arts training in 1999, at the age of 35, after many years as a competitive bodybuilder and  power lifter.  While he currently holds rank in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do, Nick has a strong preference for the less restrictive world of "MMA" (mixed martial arts) or "NHB" (no-holds-barred) training.

Nick is the former strength coach for the Palmerton Youth Wrestling team, won  silver medals in the NAGA 2006 and 2007 Battle of the Beach Championship in the over 40 and Over 30 heavyweight divisions and was recently featured in the Lifestyles section of the Pocono Record.

kerry

Kerry Lobel is one of the founders and owners of RPFS who came to us from the wolrd of Tae Kown Do in which he earned a Black Belt from 10th Dan Grand Master Robert Nenow in 2004. While Kerry, due to his karate background, originally had a strong preference for the "stand up game", he has, over the past several years become a standout on the ground as well and in 2010 he was awarded his purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Roni Cardosa balck belt, James Simrell of Simrell MMA. Over the years Kerry has proven himself to be the RPFS "work horse" as he does everything from teaching the kids program to assisting with the adult grappling, striking and cardio programs to working the front desk to creating and updating our website.

sandipict

Sandra Masington began her martial arts training in the art of Tae Kwon Do under Grand Master Robert Newnow (10th Dan). She is a certified assistant martial arts instructor under Master Nenow, currently holding the rank of Brown Belt and will be testing for her Black Belt in the near future. She has trained BJJ for two years, recently being promoted to blue belt under Cardoso/Simrell, trains kickboxing with Ed Arner and is both President of RFPS and it's woman's AeroBoxing Instructor. Sandi's personality and instructing abilities make her a favorite with our children's class.

mmanfores

Over the past 35 years Forrest Meyer has trained with several instructors and in various disciplines including Ishin Ryu, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and American Boxing. Never-the-less, Forrest sees himself not as a "martial artist" but, rather as, simply, a fighter. Further, as Life Skills and Vocational Education teacher for the past 18 years, Forrest knows well that people learn best when they are in a comfortable environment and surrounded by friends. It is for these reasons that RPFS, with its "no-ego" policy, its multi-discipline approach to fight training and it family like environment was tailor made for Forrest and his unique training programs and he looks forward to continuing those traditions at the MMA Nation location.
